Midfielder Frenkie de Jong and former captain Georginio Wijnaldum have secured spots in the Netherlands' provisional 30-player squad for Euro 2024, despite concerns over their fitness.

De Jong, sidelined with an ankle injury for nearly a month, aims to prove his readiness for the upcoming tournament. Wijnaldum, now playing for Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, returns to the squad after a nine-month absence.

Liverpool's defensive stalwart Virgil van Dijk, midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, and striker Cody Gakpo are among the notable inclusions. Atletico Madrid forward Memphis Depay also makes the cut.

However, notable absentees include Arsenal's defender Jurrien Timber. The final squad of 26 players will be announced on May 29 by Ronald Koeman.

The Netherlands will play warm-up matches against Canada and Iceland before their Euro 2024 campaign kicks off against Poland on June 16 in Hamburg. They are placed in Group D alongside France and Austria.
