Barcelona Signs Spain Playmaker Olmo from RB Leipzig
Barcelona has secured the signing of Spain playmaker Dani Olmo from German club RB Leipzig. The 26-year-old returns to Barcelona in a deal reportedly worth 60 million euros (£51 million) after having previously played for the Spanish club at the youth level. He moved to Croatia's Dinamo Zagreb in 2014 before making the transition to Leipzig.
Olmo has agreed to a six-year contract with Barcelona that includes a release clause of 500 million euros (£429 million). He played a pivotal role in Spain's success at Euro 2024, where he was a joint top-scorer with three goals, contributing to Spain's record fourth tournament victory.
In a statement, Barcelona highlighted Olmo's standout qualities: "Wherever he plays, Olmo stands out for his individual talent and his ability to link up with his team-mates. He has a nose for goal as he showed in Euro 2024 and can score from inside and outside the penalty area."
During his tenure with RB Leipzig, which began in 2020, Olmo won two German Cups. Reflecting on his time at Leipzig, he expressed gratitude on X, saying, "A young club, a young player. We grew up, won our first trophies and made history together. Thank you RB Leipzig, you'll forever be in my heart."
