Jamie Gittens scored twice in the 15 minutes to lead Borussia to a 3-0 win over Club Brugge in their Champions League opener on Wednesday.

The English winger's late double helped Dortmund secure a convincing victory after a goalless start to the match. Gittens, brought on as a substitute by new Dortmund coach with 22 minutes remaining, broke the deadlock with a right-footed shot that looped over Brugge goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, aided by a deflection.

Gittens added his second goal with a low shot from the left flank, four minutes from the end, effectively ending Brugge's hopes of a comeback.

Serhou Guirassy, a summer signing, further increased Dortmund's lead by winning and converting a penalty in injury time, completing the 3-0 scoreline.

Sahin, the youngest coach in this season's Champions League at 36, made three changes from Dortmund's 4-2 Bundesliga win over Heidenheim on Friday, including resting Guirassy as he continues his recovery from injury.

Despite Dortmund's dominance in possession, Brugge had the better chances in the first half. Raphael Onyedika's loose ball in the Dortmund box forced a strong save from goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. Hugo Vetlesen's rebound strike struck the crossbar, and Vetlesen came close again with a goalbound shot that Kobel tipped over with his fingertips.

Gittens' impact off the bench mirrored his performance in Dortmund's Bundesliga opener against Eintracht Frankfurt, where he also scored twice to turn the game. His first goal against Brugge came with a fortunate deflection, while his second demonstrated his skill with a well-placed low shot.

Guirassy, who scored 28 goals in 28 league appearances for Stuttgart last season, was awarded a penalty in the final moments and converted it with the last kick of the game.

The clean sheet against Brugge marked Dortmund's historic achievement as the first team to face an opponent five times in the Champions League without conceding a goal.
