Bayern Munich in Advanced Negotiations with Burnley for Vincent Kompany Appointmentillustration

Bayern Munich are reportedly in advanced negotiations with Burnley regarding the unexpected appointment of Vincent Kompany as their new .

The Bundesliga club is confident that Kompany is keen on the move, and both clubs are working towards an agreement on a compensation fee.

Kompany, 38, is expected to bring his Burnley backroom staff to Munich, including former Wales international Craig Bellamy.

Bayern Munich have been searching for a replacement for Thomas Tuchel, whose departure was confirmed last week, despite his initial appointment in February.

Potential candidates such as Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, national team coach Julian Nagelsmann, and Austria's current coach Ralf Rangnick have all declined the role.

Efforts to persuade Tuchel to remain with the club were unsuccessful, leaving Bayern in need of a new head coach.

Kompany has earned a respectable reputation during his tenures at Anderlecht and Burnley, although Burnley's relegation has somewhat tarnished his record. He speaks German, having played in the Bundesliga with Hamburg.

Despite signing a five-year contract with Burnley in 2023, Kompany has not commented on his future following Burnley's recent home defeat by Nottingham Forest.

Kompany, who won the Premier League four times as a player with Manchester City, became Burnley's manager in June 2022. This was his first managerial role in England, following his time in charge at Anderlecht.

Burnley minority shareholder and former NFL player JJ Watt posted a cryptic message on X on Wednesday night, stating: "People often ask if European football ownership helps fill the adrenaline void from playing... There are definitely days."
