center Joel Embiid has reportedly signed a three-year extension worth $193 million, as confirmed by sources to The Athletic's Shams Charania. Embiid shared his excitement about the new deal on Instagram, stating, "I want to be here for the rest of my career."

The extension is set to commence in the 2026-27 season. Although Embiid had a player option for that season under his existing contract, the new agreement includes an option valued at approximately $69.1 million for the 2028-29 season, according to Spotrac. In total, Embiid's contract is now estimated to guarantee him around $300 million for the remainder of the agreement.

During his eighth season, the 30-year-old 7-footer achieved a career-high average of 34.7 points per game, alongside 11 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.7 blocks. However, a meniscus injury sidelined him for two months starting in February, which affected his MVP-caliber performance.

This summer, Embiid represented the United States at the Olympic Games in Paris, participating in five out of six games as Team USA claimed its fifth consecutive . He averaged 11.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in what was his first Olympic tournament.

76ers managing partner Josh Harris commented on Embiid's impact on the franchise, stating, "Joel has cemented himself as one of the greatest Sixers of all time and is well on his way to being one of the best to ever play the game." He expressed enthusiasm that the extension allows Embiid and his family to remain in Philadelphia for years. Harris noted, "He is integral to this franchise's quest for another NBA championship, and we are honored that he continues to choose this organization as his NBA home."

Embiid, the 2022-23 MVP, is also a seven-time All-Star and a five-time All-NBA selection, making the second team on four occasions and earning a first-team nomination in 2023. As a two-time NBA scoring champion, Embiid's 34.1-point average last season led the league, though he did not qualify for a third scoring title due to injury.
