Bronny James Set for G League Debut with South Bay Lakers
Bronny James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James, is slated to make his G League debut with the South Bay Lakers this Saturday against the Salt Lake City Stars, as reported by ESPN's Shams Charania.
The current plan is for Bronny James to participate exclusively in South Bay's home games to allow the Los Angeles Lakers to manage his time across both teams, Charania added.
This move follows a report from October 25 that James would be splitting time between the G League and NBA after the Lakers' recent road trip, which wrapped up on Wednesday. During the five-game stretch, the Lakers posted a 1-4 record, with their only victory coming against the Toronto Raptors.
James, 20, saw limited action during the Lakers' road trip, appearing in three games and recording his first NBA points in a homecoming game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. In total, he has played in four games this season, logging just 13 minutes of playing time. His stats include 1.0 points, 0.5 assists, and 0.3 rebounds, with a shooting percentage of 16.7%.
James is expected to be part of the Lakers' roster for their upcoming Friday game against the Philadelphia 76ers before rejoining the South Bay Lakers. The Lakers, currently at a 4-4 record, are coming off consecutive losses to the Detroit Pistons and Memphis Grizzlies.
