McDavid Returns Early from Ankle Injury to Face Golden Knights
Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid is set to return to the lineup on Wednesday against the Vegas Golden Knights, making his comeback from an ankle injury that had initially been expected to keep him sidelined for two to three weeks.
"I feel good," McDavid said. "Looking forward to going and getting back in there."
McDavid suffered the injury in the first period of the Oilers' October 30 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets after a fall into the boards. Despite his absence, the Oilers managed a 2-1-0 record in those three games without their star player.
At practice, McDavid was integrated back into the lineup, and his return brings a boost to the Oilers, who are currently 6-6-1, sitting fifth in the Pacific Division. McDavid had tallied 10 points in 10 games before being sidelined and is now eight points away from reaching 1,000 career points in just his 10th NHL season.
The Golden Knights, with an 8-3-1 record, hold second place in the Pacific Division.
