Serie A Schedule Announced: Inter to Start Title Defense at Genoa, Como Face Juventus Return
Inter Milan will commence their Serie A title defense against Genoa, while Como makes a notable return to the top flight against Juventus, following the announcement of the 2024/25 season fixture list on Thursday.
The season kicks off on August 17-18, with Inter Milan, under new ownership by US investment fund Oaktree since May, aiming to build on last season's championship triumph.
Giuseppe Marotta, appointed president following the ownership transition, oversees Inter's initial fixtures against Lecce and Atalanta at home, followed by away matches against Monza and AC Milan in September.
Como, back in Serie A after 21 years, faces a challenging start away at Juventus. The club, backed by Indonesian conglomerate Djarum since 2019, has seen rapid ascent through the divisions. Como's initial fixtures include away games against Cagliari and Udinese, with their first home match against Bologna in mid-September, pending completion of stadium renovations.
Other promoted teams Parma and Venezia will meet Fiorentina and Lazio respectively on the opening day. Atalanta will also begin their campaign with three consecutive away matches due to ongoing stadium renovations.
The season, concluding on May 25, features matches spread across weekends, with limited traditional Sunday afternoon fixtures. The initial rounds in August and early September will be scheduled in the evening to avoid summer heat.
