Barcelona has relieved manager Xavi of his duties, with former head coach Hansi Flick poised to succeed him.

Xavi's final match in charge will be on Sunday against Sevilla, marking the culmination of his tenure at the helm of Barcelona.

The decision to terminate Xavi's contract, which was originally slated to extend until 2025, was communicated to him during a meeting with club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco on Friday. This development comes exactly one month after Xavi's intention to remain at the club was announced.

Xavi's departure follows recent remarks regarding the club's financial challenges, reportedly unsettling Laporta.

Barcelona expressed gratitude for Xavi's coaching contributions since assuming the role in 2021.

In a statement shared on social media, Xavi conveyed his pride in leading the team, emphasizing his enduring support for the club beyond his managerial tenure.

Barcelona indicated forthcoming details on a "new structure," confirming Flick's impending appointment.

Discussions with the 59-year-old commenced at least two months prior, with terms agreed upon well in advance. Flick has been without a managerial position since his dismissal by Germany in September 2023.

Flick, who previously steered Bayern Munich to a treble in 2020, takes the reins following a stint with the German national team, during which he experienced mixed results.

Barcelona forward , who played under Flick at Bayern Munich, brings familiarity with the incoming manager.

Despite clinching the title in 2022-23, Barcelona endured a lackluster defense of their crown this season, trailing Real Madrid by 12 points with one match remaining.

Xavi's tenure at Barcelona encompassed 141 matches, yielding a win ratio of 63%.

Quique Sanchez Flores, Sevilla's manager, criticized Barcelona's handling of Xavi's departure, expressing solidarity with the club legend.

Barcelona will conclude the season as La Liga runners-up, with Xavi overseeing the final fixture against Sevilla.
